Trek Distance- 12 km
- The very next morning after waking up early you have to be ready and breakfast should be done by 7:30A.M. After finishing breakfast we start off our trek. The trail is steep till we reach Bednibugyal. It is one of the very famous and most scenic beauties one can see. Bednibugyal is nearly about three kilometers from our camp site. The starting trail is steep from campsite to Bednibugyal. There is a beautiful small lake known as BedniKund and it is said the goddess Durga killed a demon named Mahisasur there after a battle of 9 days. There is a small temple of LatuDevta, Goddess Durga and Lord Shiva. Once you start your trek from the lake you have to walk straight on gentle slopes and you have to keep walking till you reach your next camp site. We will spend some time at BedniKund and move further to reach the trail that is visible at the hill behind BediniKund and goes towards our next campsite. Moving towards a gradual slope on the hill to reach on that trail, but suddenly your mind could change as you can go from anywhere because it is so vast. What a magnificent view it will be! BedniBugyal and BediniKund amidst white clouds, Beautiful Valleys, everything will hypnotize you all for the moment. You are going to forget all your tiredness and enjoy those moments of life-time. Before reaching the campsite you are going to see so many beautiful and majestic views from different spots. The trail to PatalNachunia is generally moved along a mountain edge, but there is nothing to be scared of on this trail. It is not like a narrow path with high mountains on one side and steep valleys on another side. Trekking from Bedini to GhoraLotani is easy. GhoraLotani is about 2.0 kms from Bedini. It is named so, because the horses on this trek route don’t proceed beyond this point and they are expected to return (Ghora: Horses, Lotani: Return) from here. It also has a small camping ground, but nobody camps here generally because of a water source. From here the campsite is near and in the afternoon we are going to reach our campsite that is before PatalNachunia. It is a small campsite situated at an elevation of 3600m approx. in the evening we will be spending some time in nearby excursion and after that coming back to campsite. Because it is cold here so we will be having hot soup and after that dinner at night. After dinner you can take rest and sleep well. One can see a beautiful sky full of stars at night. -
Day 4 - PatalNachunia to Bhagwabasa Campsite
Trekking Time- 4-5 hours
Trek Distance- 5-6 km
You would never like to miss the sunrise of a valley full of snow clad mountains with the chill breeze and the serenity of that place. On your 4th day of the trek the very first thing we will do after waking up in the morning is a healthy and good breakfast. Starting your trek in the morning is always good because you are fresh and full of energy. Our campsite is slightly below the actual PatalNachunia which is 15minutes from the campsite. Today’s trek to Bhagwabasa is easy at the end as well as a bit challenging in the starting. There is a popular folklore associated with this name PatharNachauni or PatalNachaunia. It is believed that once a King was there on a pilgrimage to Nanda Devi and was traveling with a large army of foot soldiers and some royal dancers were also in that group. At the site of PatharNachauni, they started a party and the king was so much lost in their performance, that he finally cancelled the pilgrimage. The goddess of the mountains, Nanda Devi, became very angry and she turned all dancing girls in the statues of stone, hence the name PatharNachauni (Pather: Stone, Nachauni: Dancer). However, those statues do not exist anymore as it is said that they are so down below the earth. The trail will take you through the small meadows which are very clean and you can see the whole valley from there. Bhagwabasa is the last camping site, where trekkers stay in the night before commencing their final climb to Roopkund Lake. At the height of 14,029 feet and prior to the lake, this is a completely isolated place in the middle of the scattered stone blocks. Bhagwabasa is situated in heaven in fact. Above is the white Himalayan Peaks and below is the vast valley filled with white clouds. In between, there exists the camping ground. Above the white clouds and so close to the snow peaks, there could not be any camping experience as rewarding as at Bhagwabasa. It is situated on the edge of a mountain and from here, one can have the panoramic view of high altitude Himalayan Peaks. We will reach there in the afternoon and after that we will be having lunch and the rest of the evening is in our hands. Excursion of nearby places and we can easily see the trekking route to the lake, though the lake isn’t visible from here but surely the majestic mountains you can see easily. We are going to stay here in camps and at night you will witness the very beautiful sky full of stars. A hot dinner will be served to you and after that you all can take rest in your camps. A good day comes to an end. -

Trek distance- 10 km
Having tea and watching sunrise in the wilderness with the mountains around you makes your morning much more mesmerizing. It will be cold outside. Our final and important day is here as this will be our last day of ascending. It will be cold outside but once the morning breakfast is done you will surely feel energetic. Moving towards our final destination is like an amazing feeling you will have. The trail from Bhagwabasa is straight for some time, but the end portion of the trail is a bit steep. We firstly get to Chhirianag, the area of serpentine steps made of slate rocks. From there, the last climb to Roopkund starts and it is really a challenging one. You have to move carefully on the steps that are full of loose stones and the trail is very narrow. During the snowfall, this trail becomes very dangerous, but it depends on the weather or season. You may find snow or maybe not. The last climb is steep but not that much tough. You are going to reach our most awaited destination in 3 hours from Bhagwabasa. You may or may not find the snow on the trail except the last 100 meters. We will reach there in the morning and are going to spend some time there. Situated at an elevation of 4600m approx, Roopkund is a crater on a side of the mountain between Trishul Peak and Nanda Ghunti Peak. You cannot have the first glimpse of the lake, unless you reach at the edge of the lake, even not from the 2-3 meters before the lake. It is a small lake and generally remains frozen throughout the year, except 2-3 months in summer and monsoon. There are piles of stone on the upper corner, where you can see some skulls and some bones with Hairs and slippers which are not of a regular size Human. It is said that the whole army of the king disappeared or died here because of the heavy hailstorm. No one was left alive. We will be staying there for some time in which you can click pictures. After that we are going to descend to the campsite where we will stay at night. Today’s trek distance is slightly more than other days. So without wasting much time we will be heading towards our campsite that is Patalnachunia. Getting back to the campsite in the evening you can take a rest and enjoy your day having snacks and gossip. The dinner will be served at night and after that you can take a rest and a good day comes to end. -
