• Description

The Garhwal is perhaps one of the most sacred and mystical northern India, fascinating area from the point of view of nature with meadows, forests and the majestic peaks of the Shivling and Nanda Devi. Our trek takes us to Gaumukh, the mythological source of the River Ganges, which is at the snout of the Gangotri glacier. At Gaumukh, blocks of glacier fall into the river and pilgrims 'cleanse themselves of their sins' in freezing water. The Gangotri glacier's melting water forms the Bhagirathi River and at this point the river parkles and starts its rapid descent through the mountains. A combination of the trek and the Bhagirathi rafting expedition is an excellent introduction to the adventure opportunities as well the colorful culture and traditional village life of the Himalayas. The trek starts from Gaumukh glacier, the mythological origin of the river Ganges..
